The Generals Hub: David Cerezo at La Voz Open 2026
Today we have David Cerezo with us, sharing his experience at the La Voz Open 2026 GT: a player with a lot of experience gained in a very short time, running a somewhat peculiar Hedonites of Slaanesh list that has brought him great results.
David Cerezo

I started playing a little over a year ago. Back in April of last year, I was given the Stormcast half of a Skaventide box, and that’s when the addiction began…
I currently play Stormcast, Soulblight, and, more recently, Hedonites.
I’m a member of the Dragones de Piedrabruja team! They recruited me shortly after I got into the hobby and taught me a huge amount about how to play.
The armies I play tend to lean toward control lists, but I like trying out combos to give my playstyle a more aggressive edge (who doesn’t love trading blows with the enemy army!).

And what does this do?
The main idea when putting together the list was to try to make it as all-purpose as possible. At the same time, I try to bring variety into the units, since there are many interesting options, which gives a lot of tools and alternatives depending on the opponent and army you’re facing.
This means the list plays the role of a “sword list” in pairings, since it can go up against almost anything and still get positive results. Slaanesh deals damage to a lot of armies in the current meta and, on top of that, it’s built to protect itself well against shooting, which clears up a lot of the matchup spread.
La Voz Open 2026
Overall, I really enjoyed the experience. The organization was solid, and as for the streamed table, it was my first time ever playing on one and I thought it was really cool (though the nerves of playing live are no joke!).
They also set up an octopus stall in the food area (an idea worth stealing, for sure!).
As a point for improvement, in my opinion they should swap the scenery for actual terrain pieces: they used templates which, while functional, I don’t think are the best option.
Results
Round 1 vs Iñaki Pumarega Seraphon Eternal Starhost – 72/54

In the first round I was up against Iñaki, playing Nagash, on Seize the Embers. It’s not a great pairing for me, since his Bastiladon list is hard for my list to deal with. It ends up winning through attrition, because without tools to deal mortal wounds or high rend, they’re very hard to kill while they keep wearing you down.
Basically, I approached the game trying to score as much as possible in the early turns (55 points over 3 rounds), knowing I’d be pretty worn down by the last two, but with enough of a lead that he wouldn’t be able to turn it around.
The map also worked in my favor, since collecting and delivering torches with my Seekers and Mask is pretty manageable. With the Bastiladons, it’s a lot harder…
Round 2 vs Jordi BR Kharadron Overlords Veteran Ground Troops – 45/42

For the second round, I was up against Jordi, from Requiem Baturro, on the streamed table, on the map Scape from the Coast.
Nerves of playing live aside, this was a pairing where my game plan was clear: use the tools I have to protect myself from shooting and grind down his infantry. I have to admit I got a bit lucky in the first shooting phase, since he tried to kill Sigvald marked as a fugitive, and he held up well.
From there, I focused on wearing down his units and keeping his frigates tied up in combat to make shooting as difficult as possible for him and win the attrition battle.
Round 3 vs Mike Varela Daughters of Khaine Coven of Blood – 62/52

In round three, it was Mike’s turn, from Bandua Akerbeltz, with his Daughters of Khaine, on the map Treacherous Ground. It’s a comfortable pairing for me, since the debuffs Slaanesh has make this kind of aggressive list suffer a lot.
The plan was to build a solid castle in the center of the map, one he wouldn’t want to enter. Meanwhile, I tried to “sweep” one of the flanks to control more primaries.
Round 4 vs Adrián López Cendán Cities of Sigmar Zealous Hordes – 48/48

In the fourth round, I faced Adrián, from Suit and War Deluxe, playing my trusty Cities of Sigmar. The map was Power of the Realms.
It’s a matchup that’s favorable in principle, since Slaanesh has good tools for handling cavalry. The problem is the Cogfort — what a unit…!
We ended in a draw, same tactics, same points. Adrián played brilliantly, holding a defensive position and securing points. It was a very technical game, and he approached it really well.
Round 5 vs Antonio Cinco Skaven Fleshmeld Menagerie – 41/40

Lastly, it was Antonio’s turn, from Suit and War, with his rat army, on a repeat of Seize the Embers. I love Skaven. Unnecessary comment aside, it was a really fun game.
A proper massacre, the kind we all enjoy. I threw myself into the middle to control it and build a castle in the center, and he came in looking for a fight. We both learned that it’s a bad idea to charge into Slaanesh with Rat Ogres carelessly…
Either way, Antonio is a great player. He was sharp and hunted down my cavalry fast, which made the torch objectives pretty tough for me. With a big chunk of his army dead, he was still able to keep scoring a lot and made the game really hard for me. What a legend — this was the game I had the most fun in.
Conclusions and Recommendations on Hedonites of Slaanesh
Slaanesh is a very functional army and plays a brilliant role in team events. Rarely have I played a tournament where I can go up against almost anything.
At the same time, it’s a very complex army, since it has a lot of rules, so you need to practice a lot to master it. On a micro level it’s far from easy, but once you get the hang of it, it really works.
The clock is also an important factor: lots of abilities mean lots of possibilities, so you have to manage carefully how much time you spend thinking through how to plan your turns. Another point is that opponents usually aren’t familiar with the army, so a lot of time tends to get lost explaining abilities, which doesn’t help either.
Despite all this, it’s a genuinely fun army to play, and one very capable of catching opponents off guard with everything it brings to the table.
