The Generals Hub: La Letanía del Oso II – Teams
This week, we’ve got a double helping of GTs in Spain!
While part of the Spanish competitive scene heads to Murcia for the IV GT Huertano, Madrid has another big event on the calendar: the second edition of La Letanía del Oso, taking place at X-Madrid Shopping Centre.
The event is organised by Kingdom Wargames, with Alfonso Quintana taking charge as TO. Not only is he a great player, but he’s also a good friend of ours.
And this time, we at The Generals Hub won’t just be watching the stats from the sidelines… we’re getting involved!
We’ll have players representing us across several teams:
- Emilio “Ekkius” will be flying the flag for Raiderz TGH.
- Carlos Jimeno will be playing for Guardia Team.
- Adri Rodríguez, Juanma Izquierdo and yours truly, Adri Manzano, will be wearing the Raiderz Madriz jersey.
So, throughout the weekend, a good chunk of The Generals Hub crew will be dishing out — or taking — a few beatings across the tables at X-Madrid.
Next week, we’ll bring you a full report on our experience at La Letanía del Oso, covering how things went, our games and, hopefully, a few good results worth celebrating.
But before we get there, it’s time to do what we enjoy most: taking a closer look at the GT’s army lists, factions, formations and statistics.

Let’s see what awaits us at the II Letanía del Oso!
Metrics

Teams
A total of 20 teams will be competing in the second edition of La Letanía del Oso, with a strong turnout from local teams despite the event taking place on a somewhat tricky weekend, as it coincides with Spain’s National Day.
Even so, with Wargame Garrison being pretty much the only major regional team we’ll be missing, we’re in for an incredible showing from some of the teams we regularly see battling it out at the top of team tournaments.
We’re also approaching the final stretch of Games Workshop’s ITC circuit, so let’s try a little experiment: ranking the participating teams based on the combined ITC points of their players.
Using this method, Dragones de Piedrabruja takes the clear number one spot, followed by Buenchas Team, Raiderz Madrid, Nagash, and the second Dragones de Piedrabruja team.
Just behind them, we have El Tanga, a team I personally have very high expectations for; Pétreos, who will be travelling from Valencia with a few Madrid players joining them; Pinpals, Guarida Team, and the second Raiderz team.
Then there’s one of those cases where the rankings can be a little misleading: Requiem. Their position is affected by some of their players having attended fewer tournaments this year, but looking at their roster and the quality of their players, I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see them finish in the Top 5.
Further down the rankings, we find teams such as the ever-popular Veni, Vidi, Perdinchi, Agarrapatos, BCN Reaputin, a combined team featuring players from Nagash and Forbidden Chamber, UCCA, and Perros de Asedio, who we’re seeing more and more often on the competitive scene.
And there’s also a comeback we’re particularly excited about: La Cofradía del Gumio is returning to tournaments! Definitely great news.
On paper, we’ve got 20 teams, an incredibly strong field, and several serious contenders for the top spots. But as we all know, ITC points don’t win games. Now it’s time to see what happens when the dice start rolling.

Factions
Among the most represented factions, it’s surprising to see Gloomspite Gitz leading the way with no fewer than 8 players. Although, when you think about it, perhaps it shouldn’t be that surprising after all: we really do love spamming Rockgut Troggoths here in Madrid.
As for the rest, the current meta is very well represented. Daughters of Khaine, Sylvaneth, Helsmiths of Hashut, Maggotkin of Nurgle, Soulblight Gravelords, Nighthaunt, Ogor Mawtribes, and Ironjawz dominate the top spots and will have a strong presence throughout the GT.
It’s also worth highlighting the solid representation of Skaven and Flesh-eater Courts, especially considering that their results before the latest Battlescroll weren’t exactly anything to write home about.

Tactics
When it comes to battle tactics, nothing new under the sun.
Just a few months into the season, it’s already become pretty clear that battle tactics were going to be difficult to complete and that, despite this difficulty, Siege, Blazing, and Burning are the most achievable options. Tournament after tournament, players’ choices continue to prove it.
There’s a clear imbalance between these three tactics and Legend, Smokescreen, and Flanking, which are consistently pushed into the background.
In fact, the representation of these less popular tactics at the II Letanía del Oso can largely be explained by one of the tournament’s specific rules: a team cannot select the same tactic more than three times across all its army lists.
And trust me, putting together some team compositions while respecting this restriction has been anything but easy.
It’s a rule that forces teams to move away from the usual choices and undoubtedly adds an extra layer of difficulty, strategy, and variety to the event.

Units
SPOILER: Rockgut Troggoths are the most played unit at the GT. WHO COULD HAVE POSSIBLY SEEN THAT COMING?
With Gloomspite Gitz being one of the most represented factions and knowing just how much we love spamming these heavily armoured guys here in Spain, it was almost inevitable that Rockgut Troggoths would end up at the top of the rankings.
Right behind them are the Ogor Gluttons, another unit we’re more than used to seeing in huge numbers on our tables.
At this point, our international friends must be losing their minds every time they look at the stats from Spanish tournaments: trolls and Gluttons everywhere.
Spain is different.

Prizes
When it comes to prizes, there’s plenty at stake at this II Letanía del Oso.
The winning team will walk away with no fewer than 5 Golden Tickets, one for each team member, along with financial support to attend the Barcelona Open in December.
There will also be trophies for the teams finishing on the podium and various prize draws for all participants throughout the event.
And, of course, we couldn’t forget about the hobby! There will also be a painting award sponsored by Ionic SmartColors.

Pairings
Here are the first-round pairings, although they’ve been available for a few days now, so I’m sure many of you have already done your homework.
As for us, Raiderz Madriz will kick off the tournament against Nagash Bullying OGs, a fantastic Madrid-based team that won the Valencia GT earlier this year and that we’re used to seeing fighting for the top spots at GTs.
They’re also old friends, and it’s always a pleasure to share the tables with them, so we’re kicking things off in style.
I’m sure it’ll be a round to remember!

Battleplans
Here are all the battleplans for the event!
And luckily, Hidden Under Ash-Clouds only appears once… right? RIGHT?!
Putting any potential trauma aside, we’ll have a good variety of battleplans across the five rounds, so adapting to each one and knowing exactly what each army list needs to do will be key.
