The Generals Hub Joins Spearhead

Hi everyone! Today we’re bringing you two big pieces of news that will help us improve our content going forward and, at the same time, help you expand your miniature armies and collections.

First of all, we’ve started collaborating with WarGen Wargames, one of the best hobby stores in Madrid. It’s easy to reach by public transport, there’s plenty of parking nearby (and no need to pay for blue or green parking zones!), and you’ll find a huge range of products beyond just Warhammer. I’ve left a link in their name so you can check out their website! And to celebrate this new partnership, they’ve also given us a bunch of discount codes, which I’ll share with you at the end of the post.

The second piece of news is that The Generals Hub has joined the Salvat collection! It’s a great collection for pretty much anyone: whether you’re a newcomer who’s still deciding what army to start, a group of friends looking to pick up several Spearheads at a really good price, or a full-blown plastic addict whose only goal in life is to keep adding boxes to the pile. Because we all know the real hobby isn’t collecting, painting, or playing. The real hobby is buying more miniatures.

Let’s do a quick review of what the collection includes, which issues we think are actually worth picking up if you only want to buy individual ones, and, in our opinion, how you can get the most value out of the full collection.

Personally, whether you’re new to the hobby or a veteran, whether you’re collecting it on your own or splitting it with some friends, I’d always recommend subscribing to the collection — either through your local newsagent or directly through Salvat.

Why? Because, besides being a pretty interesting collection in its own right, it gives us a steady supply of paints while allowing us to pick up miniatures at a very good price. And you can always sell the issues you don’t want. Obviously, everyone can decide what price they want to charge, but I’d recommend not asking for too much. It’s better to move the stuff you don’t want quickly and use that money to offset the cost of that part of the collection.

One more thing — and again, this is just my opinion, so everyone should do whatever they think is best.

In AoS, we simply don’t get the same level of publicity or the huge influx of people that 40K attracts, so let’s be sensible about this. Don’t go out and buy ten copies of issue #1 just because you want a unit of ten identical miniatures, or because you’re planning some amazing conversion that, let’s be honest, you’re never actually going to make.

This collection — and especially these first few issues — is aimed at people who don’t know the hobby yet. It’s their opportunity to get started and discover the world of Age of Sigmar.

Now, when we eventually get to issues featuring something like the trolls — which will be spread across two issues — I’ll be the first one buying several copies of each.

But these first issues? Come on… what are you going to do with several Lord-Veritants?

Spoiler: absolutely nothing.

Well, with my opinion out of the way, let’s take a look at what we actually get in the first delivery:

  • 3 magazines covering bits of lore, painting/assembly and gameplay. They’re very interesting for someone who’s just getting started, although not quite as useful if you’ve already been in the hobby for a while.
  • A poster.
  • A thick paper gaming mat, which is actually pretty decent for your first few games of Spearhead, although, as you’d expect, the quality is nowhere near that of a neoprene mat or a gaming table you’ve built yourself.
  • 1 Lord-Veritant with Gryph-crow.
  • 1 Grey Seer.
  • 1 Warlock Engineer.
  • 3 Rat Ogors.
  • 5 Liberators.

This is the sprue containing the Lord-Veritant with Gryph-crow, the Grey Seer and the Warlock Engineer.

As for yours truly, I’ve already painted the Stormcast from this delivery, following my slightly modified Hallowed Knights colour scheme.

Let me know what you think!

In the next delivery, issue #5 will include Karnus, a Lord-Celestant and an exclusive character created for this collection. I’ll also be putting together a quick painting guide showing you how I painted the miniature.

On top of that, I’ll include direct links to every paint and material I use on the WarGen Wargames website, so you can find everything you need without wasting time searching for each individual product.

And, as promised… here’s our promotional code!

Using it couldn’t be easier. Once you’ve added everything you want to your cart, open the shopping cart and enter the following code in the box on the right:

ILOVETGH

Click Add and you’ll automatically get 5% off the listed price of the products!

By using this simple code, you’ll be helping us improve and create more content, while also getting your hobby supplies that little bit cheaper. Everybody wins!

See you with the next delivery!!
