How to Magnetize Miniatures Without Gluing Your Fingers Together
Tired of having to hold your miniatures upside down every time you glue on magnets? Of cyanoacrylate dripping everywhere? Of your fingers sticking together and getting high off the glue fumes? I’ve got a quick and, in the long run, much cheaper solution for you.
The first thing is to buy a hot glue gun. There are many types and price points — I actually bought mine from an Asian supplier (the Chinese shop in my neighborhood), but you can also find them at GSW, Amazon, etc., and if glue sticks aren’t included, buy some of those too.

Once you’ve got these materials, we need a metal surface like a baking tray, baking/parchment paper, the magnets, and the miniatures we want to add magnets to.

We place the magnet, apply a good blob of hot glue, place the miniature, and press down. At this step I recommend pressing and wiggling it slightly, because if you don’t, you run the risk of it not sitting flush once it dries, which can leave the miniature wobbling afterward.

This would be the result. Thanks to this method, we can add magnets to lots of miniatures in very little time, since it takes about 1 minute to dry.

I always recommend adding magnets before priming, since it’s easier to handle for priming and painting once you have the right tools in hand.
And that wraps up this tutorial — I hope you found it useful. If there’s a particular finish or effect, not just tips like today’s post, that you’d like to see explained in future articles, don’t hesitate to leave it in the comments. I’ll be happy to put together new tutorials.
See you in the next post!
